As a result of the measures taken by the Interior Ministry together with the relevant bodies and organizations, stability has been achieved in the republic in terms of the religious situation, but sometimes violations of the law occur in this area, APA reports with reference to the Deputy Head of the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Zeyni Huseynov, who spoke at a session on the topic “Media and the fight against religious radicalism” organized within the framework of the seminar “Religious factor in the ideological struggle: expectations from the media” in Shusha.

He noted that serious measures are systematically taken in Azerbaijan to combat religious radicalism, destructive calls aimed at undermining stability. Measures in accordance with the law are being taken against persons who violated the requirements of the Law “On Freedom of Religion”.

In Baku, persons suspected of illegal drug trafficking who tried to escape without obeying the order of police officers have been detained, minval.az reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Thus, on September 24 at about 03:44 on Z. Akhmedbekov Street in the Yasamal district of Baku, police officers ordered a Toyota Prius (state number 77-XS-413), in which there were persons suspected of illegal drug trafficking, to stop. The car stopped only on the territory of the Nasimi district after colliding with an obstacle; the persons in the car resisted the police officers and tried to escape. A warning shot was fired from a service weapon, previously convicted persons Ismailov Bakhtiyar, born in 1991, and Ajdarov Ajdar, born in 1980, were detained. The latter was hospitalized.

Heroin, methamphetamine, and potent drugs were found in the car.

A criminal case has been opened under the relevant articles, and investigative actions are ongoing.

As a result of operational and investigative activities carried out by the Barda District Police Department, previously convicted Mammadali Mammadov was detained on suspicion of organizing the sale of narcotics, Report informs citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

About 5 kg of marijuana was found and seized from the detainee. In his testimony, Mammadov admitted that he smuggled drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan and brought them to the Barda District for further sale.

A criminal case has been opened on the fact, and a preventive measure in the form of arrest has been chosen for the detainee.
