The trial of Orkhan Zeynalov and Ilgar Abdurrahmanov, accused of murdering senior warrant officer of the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan Jasarat Veliyev and stabbing another employee Jamal Hasanov for ordering a song in a restaurant in Baku and using foul language, has ended, APA reports. By the decision of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, Orkhan Zeynalov was sentenced to 19 years, and Ilgar Abdurrahmanov to 18 years and 6 months in prison.

The suspects in committing the crime, Orkhan Zeynalov and Ilgar Abdurrahmanov, were detained by police officers, and the court ordered arrest as a preventive measure against them.

Orkhan Zeynalov was charged under Articles 120.2.1, 120.2.2, 29,120.2.1, 29,120.2.2 and 221.2.2, and Ilgar Abdurrahmanov was charged under Articles 120.2.1, 120.2.2, 29,120.2.1, 29,120.2.2 and 234.1-1 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

In Baku, police officers neutralized a suspect in illegal drug trafficking who offered armed resistance, Report informs citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Thus, on the night of September 24, previously convicted Alizade Farid, born in 1991, resisted police officers using a knife during his arrest. Law enforcement officers opened warning fire at him from their service weapon.

The wounded suspect was taken to the hospital. He was found to have a knife and heroin in various packages intended for sale.

A criminal case has been opened under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, and investigative actions are ongoing.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan conducted a joint operation, oxu.az reports with reference to the Penitentiary Service, during operational activities in the Gala settlement of the Khazar district of Baku, heroin with a total weight of 1 kg 630 g, belonging to Jahid Novruzov, was found and seized.

An investigation is underway into this fact.
