Climate change is the biggest problem of humanity, which goes beyond national borders and requires collective efforts, APA reports. This was stated by the Chairperson of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova at the Parliamentary meeting organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29.

The Chairperson of the Milli Majlis noted that about 90 delegations of national parliaments, inter-parliamentary organizations and other structures are participating in this meeting: “This is a manifestation of our firm intention and dedication to solving the most pressing problem of our time – the problem of climate change. All countries of the world suffer from climate change. Our country is no exception. In recent decades, Azerbaijan has faced intense heat, water shortages, a decrease in the level of the Caspian Sea and floods. Understanding the depth of the challenge and demonstrating foresight, Azerbaijan, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, demonstrated clear confidence and determination on the path forward before COP29 by including the green agenda in national development programs, making voluntary commitments, implementing renewable energy projects, and creating green energy zones.”
