The details of the criminal case against Vurgun Mansimov, accused of bribery, fraud, embezzlement and official forgery, have become known, oxu.az reports. At a session of the Lankaran Court of Grave Crimes chaired by Judge Oruj Jalilov, it was announced that the accused held the position of director of the Yardimli District Children’s and Youth Sports Chess School from September 1, 2011 to October 20, 2022.

Thus, V. Mansimov appropriated state budget funds in the amount of 71,445 manat, committed fraud in the amount of 8,000 manat and received bribes in the amount of 3,000 manat.

The court sentenced the former director to 5 years of imprisonment.

A preliminary hearing was held in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes on the case of Sabina Aliyeva, Kamala Mammadova and Sabina Nasibova, accused under Article 206.3.2 (smuggling committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports. At the trial chaired by Judge Rasim Sadykhov, state prosecutor Rauf Malyshev announced the indictment.

During the trial, it was revealed that K. Mammadova, through S. Nasibova and S. Aliyeva, tried to smuggle jewelry weighing about 1 kg and worth 101,000 manats into Azerbaijan. Thus, Duty Free employee S. Nasibova was supposed to illegally carry gold jewelry brought by K. Mammadova from Turkey through the customs checkpoint of the Heydar Aliyev International Airport and hand it over to her. However, the attempt failed – the gold was found in the closet where S. Nasibova hid it.
The court hearing was postponed until December 17, 2024.

It is noted that for all three women, a preventive measure in the form of police supervision was chosen for the duration of the preliminary investigation. The State Customs Committee was recognized as a victim in the criminal case.

Cybercriminals in Azerbaijan have begun to use an unusual method to deceive citizens, oxu.az reports with reference to xezerxeber.az. Recently, sending wedding invitations via WhatsApp messenger has become a common practice for many. However, attackers have turned this into a fraudulent tool.

According to the information, the victim first receives a file designed as an invitation to a formal ceremony. After downloading it, a malicious program is installed on the phone, providing hackers with remote access to the device. This allows criminals to steal confidential data stored on the smartphone.

Elbrus Ibrahimov, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, called on citizens to be vigilant.
