The prison term of Elvin H. (born in 1983), who is serving his sentence in correctional facility No. 9 in the Khazar district of Baku, has been extended, oxu.az reports. The prison term of the man, who was sentenced in 2022 to 7 years and 6 months for fraud, has been extended by 6 months – to 8 years. The corresponding sentence was handed down by the Yasamal District Court.
It turned out that Elvin, who previously worked in law enforcement, learned that his cellmate named Sahib had filed a petition for pardon. He convinced the latter that he would help him get out of prison and under this pretext received 6,000 manats from the cellmate. The money was transferred by Sahib’s relatives to the cards indicated by Elvin.
However, Elvin’s deception was later revealed and a new criminal case was opened against him for fraud.
