Fraud accused to face trial

The time of the court session in the Supreme Court on the cassation appeal against the sentence of Orkhan Maharramov, who is accused of fraud in Baku, has been announced, oxu.az reports. It will take place on April 27, 2023.

O. Maharramov was found guilty of misappropriation of 1.4 million manats belonging to his uncle Amil Aliyev. On the basis of the statement of the victim, a preliminary investigation was carried out at the Main Police Department of the city of Baku. In a criminal case initiated under article 178.3.2 (fraud committed with causing major damage) of the Criminal Code, in December 2019, O. Maharramov was put on the wanted list.

The Baku Grave Crimes Court sentenced O. Maharramov to 6 years and 6 months in prison. The Baku Court of Appeal did not satisfy his complaint.
