Statement of the prosecutor’s office on the fact of shooting at civil service employees

On May 18, 2023, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Gazakh region conducted an investigation in connection with the fact of shooting from firearms at employees of the State Environmental Security Service under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources at the Agstafachay reservoir, oxu.az reports.

Reasonable suspicions were established that a resident of the district, Farman Mustafayev, resisted the employees of the structure, Yashar Mammadov and Jabi Mammadhuseynov, who were collecting nets as part of measures to combat illegal fishing, opening fire on them from a distance of 150 meters and injuring Y. Mammadov.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Article 315 (resistance or use of violence against a representative of the authorities) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. F. Mustafayev was detained as a suspect.

The preliminary investigation is currently ongoing.
