Operation on the Azerbaijani-Iranian border: there are detainees

An operation was carried out on the Azerbaijani-Iranian border, oxu.az reports with reference to the press center of the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan.

On May 28, 2023, at about 04:00, employees of the Horadiz border detachment of the State Border Guard Troops on the service territory of the frontier post near the village of Birindzhi Shahseven, Beylagan region, prevented an attempt to violate the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the direction of Iran with the aim of drug smuggling by local residents Ibrahim Guliyev and Jeyhun Akhmedov. During a body search, one universal thermal sight for sniper weapons was found and confiscated from the detainees.

On May 29, 2023, at 03:50, employees of the Horadiz border detachment in the service area of the frontier post near the village of Ikindzhi Shahseven, Beylagan region, detained a resident of the Terter region, Kamil Tanriverdiyev, and a native of the Samukh region, Ramiz Ibrahimli, who violated the state border in order to illegally import prohibited substances from Iran to Azerbaijan. During a personal search, more than 9.8 kg of marijuana and 30 g of opium were found and confiscated from them.

Based on these facts, operational and investigative measures are ongoing.
