Citizen on international wanted list extradited to Azerbaijan

A citizen who was on the international wanted list has been extradited from Belarus to Azerbaijan, Report informs citing the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In accordance with the requirements of the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters of October 7, 2002, the request of the General Prosecutor’s Office for the extradition of a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hashimov Zamik Beylar oglu was satisfied by the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Belarus.

Zamik Hashimov was attracted by the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office as a suspect in the case of embezzlement using his official position, he was put on the international wanted list, as he was hiding from the investigation.

On August 3, 2023, Z. Gashimov was extradited to Azerbaijan from Belarus, accompanied by a special escort of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
