Members of an organized criminal group that smuggled drugs from Iran were detained

Previously convicted Zahid Mammadov (born in 1989) and Gabil Muradov (born in 1998) were detained in the territory of the Absheron region on suspicion of drug smuggling, Report informs citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During a search of the detainees’ car, drugs with a total weight of 91 kg were found.

It was established that the detainees created an organized criminal group and entered into a criminal conspiracy with an Iranian citizen named “Sekhavet”. They intended to deliver drugs for sale to individuals in the Absheron region.

A criminal case has been initiated on the fact under the relevant article of the Criminal Code, and a measure of restraint in the form of arrest has been chosen against members of the criminal group. Operational-search and operational-investigative measures are being continued to detain other members of the organized group.
