Customs seized a large consignment of smuggled diamonds and gold

As a result of operational search activities carried out on the basis of the information received by the employees of the Operational Search Department of the General Customs Directorate of Air Transport, diamonds, gold items and other valuables were found and confiscated from a citizen who arrived on a Dubai-Baku flight from the United Arab Emirates to Azerbaijan, hidden from customs control in the amount of 252,502 manats, oxu.az reports with reference to the Press and Public Relations Department of the State Customs Committee (SCC). On this fact, a criminal case was initiated in the operational department of the Committee under article 206.3.2 (Smuggling) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In the course of the operational-search activities carried out by the Main Directorate, in addition to the person who hid the goods from customs control, 3 more people were identified and detained, involved in the crime. The detainees were brought to criminal responsibility under article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen against them by a court decision.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
