Drug smuggling from Iran to Azerbaijan has been stopped, Trend reports with reference to the State Border Service of Azerbaijan.

According to the information, on August 31, 2023, at 00:15, on the official territory of the border outpost near the village of Boyuk Bakhmanli, Fizuli region, the Horadiz border detachment of the State Border Service prevented an attempt to smuggle drugs into Azerbaijan from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

It is noted that as a result of operational measures, residents of the Fizuli region, Mammadov Surkhay Ali oglu and Mammadov Magomed Kerim oglu, were detained as border violators. During the inspection, a narcotic substance marijuana weighing 14 kg 300 g was found and seized from them.

In fact, operational-search activities are ongoing.
