Sale of a large batch of drugs prevented

The Water Transport Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan conducted another operation to combat illegal drug trafficking, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The department received operational information that unknown persons were going to take a large batch of drugs for sale in the territory of the Shirvan National Park. Department employees immediately responded to the information received and established surveillance in the specified area. The attackers were caught red-handed while receiving a large shipment of drugs.

Those detained were previously convicted Akif Shakhbazov, Bakhram Salimov, Elnur Imanov and Hasangulu Akhundov. When examining G. Akhundov’s car, about 10 kg of narcotic substances were found in the luggage compartment, including 5 kg 93 g of opium, 4 kg 625 g of marijuana and 5,000 methadone tablets.

During interrogation, the detainees admitted to what they had done, and a criminal case was opened under the relevant article.
