The court did not release the former head of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry department under house arrest

The court did not release the former head of the financial department of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, Major General Nizami Mammadov, under house arrest. As Trend reports on Friday, the preparatory court hearing on criminal cases of those accused of theft of the former head of the financial department of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, Major General Nizami Mamedov, the former head of the financial service of the Azerbaijan Air Force, Colonel Jalal Kazimov, the head of the financial department of the Ground Forces Bayram Bayramov and an employee of this department continued Vusala Alizade.

At a meeting chaired by Judge Fikret Aliyev of the Baku Military Court, the personal details of the accused were clarified. Nizami Mammadov’s lawyer Rashad Mirzazade filed a petition to transfer his client to house arrest. According to him, out of 18 million manats of damage caused to the state budget by the accused, 12 million manats were compensated. Lawyers for other defendants made similar requests.

After a meeting of the Judicial Council, the lawyers’ petitions were considered unfounded and were rejected. The next court hearing is scheduled for September 22, 2023 u.
