President Ilham Aliyev told Secretary of State Blinken about the goals of anti-terrorism measures

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, noted the facts that reconnaissance and sabotage groups of Armenian armed forces in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan had previously installed mines for terrorist purposes, which resulted in the deaths of civilians and police officers, as well as cases of shelling of units of our army from mortars and small arms of various calibers,  oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the head of state.

During the conversation, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that these actions, including the holding of the so-called “presidential elections” on September 9 in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, are a continuation of the provocations of Armenia, the separatist structure created and supported by it, directed against the sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

The President drew attention to the fact that in order to prevent such provocative and inflammatory actions, Azerbaijan was forced to begin local anti-terrorist measures in the region.

The head of state emphasized that during anti-terrorist measures, the civilian population and infrastructure are not shelled, only legitimate military targets are neutralized.
