New type of cyber fraud in Azerbaijan

Cases of cyber fraud on behalf of local banks via e-mail have been recorded in Azerbaijan, minval.az reports with reference to a message from the Electronic Security Service.

According to the information, fraudsters create e-mail addresses on behalf of various banks operating in Azerbaijan, after which they send letters to citizens asking for confirmation of banking transactions. The malicious files attached to the letters contain a keylogger program, thanks to which cybercriminals steal users’ personal data.

The SES calls on citizens to be vigilant and strongly recommends not to open suspicious attachments. In addition, upon receiving such a letter, citizens must immediately contact the bank to clarify the information.
