The number of foreigners serving life sentences in Azerbaijan announced

Citizens from various countries, including the United States, Bangladesh, Belarus, China, Afghanistan, Armenia, Georgia, India, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, the Maldives, Morocco, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Oman, Russia, Ukraine and others, are serving their sentences in correctional facilities in Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports citing Report. This was stated by the head of the legal department of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, Colonel of Justice Ziya Dadashov at a seminar on the topic “Protection of the rights of foreigners and stateless persons held in institutions that they cannot voluntarily leave.”

He noted that among them there are also citizens serving life sentences: four of them are citizens of Russia, four are citizens of Georgia, one is from Kazakhstan, one is from Iran, as well as four stateless persons.
