Trial of the accused of public calls for violent seizure of power begins

The investigation into the case of Elshan Maheddin oglu Kerimov, accused of public calls for the violent seizure of power, has been completed, Report informs. The case materials have been sent to the Baku Court of Grave Crimes for the proceedings of Judge Sabuhi Huseynov.

Elshan Kerimov was detained on April 17, 2024, in the village of Rustamli, Yevlakh district. The Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office has opened a criminal case against him under Article 281.1 (public calls for the violent seizure of power, violent retention of power, or violent change of the constitutional order, or violation of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the dissemination of materials of such content) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On April 19, the Binagadi District Court chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of three months.
