Baku court sentences military commissar to 8.5 years in prison

A sentence was read out in the Baku Military Court to the former head of the Khachmaz District Department of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription for Military Service Rahim Agayev, accused of accepting a bribe, Report informs. At the hearing chaired by Judge Rafig Abbasov, the accused was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison.

The prosecution asked to sentence Agayev to 9 years and 6 months in prison.

Rakhim Agayev was detained by employees of the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General. He was charged under Articles 311.3.3 (repeated acceptance of a large bribe) and 308.2 (abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
