Over five tons of drugs have been seized from circulation since the beginning of the year

Over five tons of drugs have been seized from illegal circulation in Azerbaijan in January-August this year, Report informs citing the State Commission for Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.

In particular, 471 kg 204,959 grams of heroin, 4 tons 178 kg 838.75 grams of marijuana, 127 kg 993,641 grams of opium, 30 kg 959,401 grams of hashish, 164 kg 202,097 grams of psychotropic substances, 119 kg 669.9 grams of other types of narcotics have been seized from circulation.

Also, 14,768 methadone tablets, 12,621 cannabis bushes, 44 grams and 240 other potent substances have been seized during the reporting period.

In the first eight months of this year, 5,040 people, one of whom was a minor, were brought to criminal responsibility in connection with crimes related to drug trafficking.
