A new criminal case initiated against the former chief architect of Lankaran

Another criminal case has been opened against the former chief architect of Lankaran Elgun Abdullayev, who is already serving an 8-year sentence for accepting bribes, Report informs.

In addition to corruption, he is accused of illegally allocating land plots to citizens and issuing construction permits in violation of the rules established by law.

Abdullayev has been charged under the relevant article 314-2.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The investigation of the new criminal case has been completed, the materials have been transferred to the Lankaran City Court for the proceedings of Judge Muradagi Gasimov.

Recall that Elgun Abdullayev was detained in 2022 during an operation by the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office in the Lankaran City Administration. It was established that he received bribes from citizens. The Lankaran Court for Serious Crimes sentenced Abdullaev to 8 years in prison.
