How many political prisoners in the CIS

After the PACE session of September, 2012 the experts of “SF” finally summarized the number of political prisoners in the CIS countries, for which had used data from Wikipedia.

Before this, the controversy was about proposals on classifying representatives of the “those in power” to the political prisoners, but experts had decided that they fully comply with the definition in all parameters and they are prisoners of conscience.

The number of political prisoners in countries that ratified on December, 1991 agreement on  establishment of the CIS the following (in alphabetical order):

Armenia– 3277000

Azerbaijan – 9493600 

Belarus  – 9465400

Kazakhstan – 16836000

Kyrgyzstan – 5543300

Moldova– 3559500

Russia – 143142000

Tajikistan– 7616400

Turkmenistan – 5042000

Ukraine – 45561989

Uzbekistan – 29735700

Opinions of the experts were unanimous except for the candidacy of Yulia Timoshenko.
