To whom Internet is hard to swallow
At the conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Dubai, held for the first time since 1988, Russia, China, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have made an attempt to review the current International Telecommunication Regulations, previously distributed exclusively on telecommunications services, writes Die Zeit, titling comment “Russia has taken another attempt to gain control of the network”. These countries have expressed a desire to get more control over the Internet, evidence of which were the numerous attempts to change the rules, such as the rejection of established concepts Recognized Operational Agencies (broadcasting services or message delivery, recognized by the ITU) and introduction of the concept of cybersecurity. The USA, EU, Japan and Australia were against such a move.
As it became known, December 10, 2012 Russia and a number of countries abandoned their initiative, but this does not mean that the parties can come to a compromise, writes the correspondent.
