Foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs

Azerbaijani customs officers foiled an attempt of smuggling narcotics from Iran into Azerbaijan, reports Trend agency with reference to the Customs Committee.

The department inspection of passenger transport of the Customs Office of Astara inspected a car of brand “Samand LX” with state number “69 B 898-10”, managed by the Iranian citizen Zarifi Edris Hosseini and passenger the Iranian citizen Nasiri Mohammad Feyzollah.

During inspection it was found  a big quantity of drugs into the car’s fuel tank with total weight 10.08 kg, which were placed into the fifteen plastic bags.

In respect of the mentioned persons are initiated criminal case on the articles of 206.3.2, 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

Currently, it is carrying out investigative measures to find other members of this criminal group.
