An investigation has been completed into a criminal case initiated in the Main Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General in connection with the illegal actions of the former general director of the legal entity of public law “Republican Drug Treatment Center” of the Ministry of Health Elshan Gumbat oglu Mustafayev and Sabir oglu Aliyev Zamin oglu, the former deputy director of this institution , Trend reports with reference to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan.

It is noted that during the preliminary investigation, reasonable suspicions were revealed that Elshan Mustafayev, appointed to this position in April 2023, and his deputy Zamin Aliyev, having entered into a conspiracy, took bribes from the doctors of this institution. In addition, they took bribes from people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction in exchange for their placement in the appropriate departments of this Center.

Based on the collected evidence, Elshan Mustafayev and Zamin Aliyev were finally charged under Articles 308.2 (abuse of official powers resulting in grave consequences), 311.3.1 and 311.3.2 (receipt of a bribe by a group of persons in conspiracy; repeated commission of this offense) of the Criminal Code. By a court decision, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against them. The criminal case was sent to the Baku Court of Serious Crimes for consideration.

As a result of an operation carried out by employees of the Sheki city police department, a 49-year-old resident of the Astara district, Ilyas Dadashov, suspected of drug trafficking, was detained, oxu.az reports with reference to the regional press service group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was found to have 2.1 kg of heroin and 3 kg of marijuana.

During the investigation, it was established that I. Dadashov was involved in drug trafficking for financial compensation by a person whose identity was established by the investigation. He was ordered to deliver these 5 kg of narcotic drugs smuggled into the country to the border zone with the Russian Federation and earn 1,500 manats from it.

By a court decision, I. Dadashov was arrested, the investigation into this fact continues.

As a result of operational search activities carried out by employees of the Agdam district police department, local resident Faig Huseynov, suspected of illegal drug trafficking, was detained, oxu.az reports with reference to the regional press service group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to information, methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana and methadone were found in the car he was driving, as well as in his house in the city of Baku. In addition, another local resident, Alemdar Ismayilov, was detained for buying prohibited substances from him. A large amount of methamphetamine was also seized from F. Huseynov.

During the investigation, he noted that he acquired drugs through Iranian residents Samir and Rzu, whom he met on social networks.

A criminal case has been opened regarding this fact and the investigation is ongoing.

The judicial investigation into the case of former accountant of the Azerbaijan State Mime Theater Ayten Kerimova, accused of embezzlement of a large sum of money, has been completed, oxu.az reports with reference to Qafqazinfo. At the last meeting in the Baku Court of Serious Crimes, the verdict was announced. A. Kerimova was found guilty of abuse of power and misappropriation of a large sum of money and was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in prison.

However, the court took into account the fact that A. Kerimova has two young children, and a payment of 100 thousand manats for the damage she caused. For this reason, Article 70 (Conditional sentence) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic was applied to the woman.

Ayten Kerimova worked as an accountant of the above-mentioned theater from 2019 to 2023. Her activities were investigated by the Main Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General. It was established that as a result of the accountant’s illegal actions, the state suffered damage in the amount of 327,000 manats.

The Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan was recognized as the victim in the case.
