The Baku Serious Crimes Court held a trial on the criminal case of those accused in connection with an armed incident in a Baku hypermarket. APA reports that documents on the case were made public at a meeting chaired by Judge Azad Mejidov. The judicial investigation was declared completed. Then the state prosecutor spoke.

The prosecutor demanded that the accused Dayanat Gudratov be sentenced to life imprisonment, Azer Mammadov, Ibrahim Ibrahimov and Sabuhi Gurbanov to 20 years in prison each, Babek Iskendarov to 6 years and Rovshan Ismayilov to 7 years.

The process will continue on July 3, 2024.

Thus, on March 4, 2023, in Baku, an armed attack occurred on Unibank employees in the Bravo hypermarket in the Khatai district of the capital. A group of criminals, having previously agreed, attacked collector Samir Shaidaev at the moment when he was loading cash into a Unibank ATM installed in a hypermarket. Rufat Gashimov, who provided security for his partner, was killed, Samir Shaidaev received severe gunshot wounds. The criminals stole a large amount of money and fled the scene.

Another drug courier who smuggled 19 kilograms of marijuana into the country was detained. As APA reports with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during another event held by the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs, Tural Nasirli, born in 1990, was detained, previously convicted of organizing drug trafficking.

He was found to have 19 kilograms of marijuana. The fact is under investigation.

The investigation of the criminal case initiated in the Main Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General was completed on the basis of information received about the illegal actions of Rufat Hajiyev, who worked in 2017-2022 as the head of the Guba district department of education (now abolished) and until November 27, 2023 – as the head of the Guba district. The investigation had reasonable suspicions that R. Hajiyev, during his tenure in office, for extending the term of an employment contract, appointment to the position of school director, as well as for promises not to conduct inspections in educational institutions, to provide general patronage in the service and other illegal purposes personally received from individuals a total of 65,000 manat. In addition, the former official was an intermediary in receiving 20,000 manats as a bribe by Intigam Hajiyev, who worked as the head of the audit sector of educational spheres of the audit department of social spheres of the Accounts Chamber, and also legalized illegally obtained funds in the amount of more than 175,000 manats, through various financial transactions from names of relatives.

Intigam Hajiyev was charged with abuse of official powers, leading to grave consequences, and receiving a large bribe. Based on the investigator’s petition and the presentation of the prosecutor who carried out the procedural management of the preliminary investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest against him.

The criminal case was sent for consideration to the Sumgayit Court of Grave Crimes.
