As a result of joint operational activities of the State Border Service and the State Security Service, members of an organized smuggling group were detained who were trying to illegally smuggle a large batch of narcotic drugs into the territory of Azerbaijan through the Caspian Sea, violating the state border, oxu.az reports with reference to the press center of State Border Service.

On June 25, 2024 u/ at 00:17, the main command and control center of the Coast Guard noticed two unknown vessels moving quickly in the direction of the village of Shorabad at a distance of 500 m from the coast in the Caspian Sea in the Khizy region. During the investigation, it was established that the detainees were citizens of Iran, residents of the city of Bandar-Turkmen, Gulistan province, Behman Gasim (born 1984), Nuri Nurmamed Bahramkhalid (born 1983), Rahim Ounek Anna (born 1984) , illegally crossed the state border with the aim of importing drugs into the country.

Based on the material received from the Shirvan-Salyan Regional Education Department, in connection with violations in secondary school No. 16 named after B. Thus, reasonable suspicions arose of misappropriation of more than 39,000 manats of state funds by fictitiously replacing the main teacher in the classroom, allegedly conducting extracurricular activities, organizing various clubs and other illegal means.

In connection with this fact, a criminal case has been initiated under Articles 179.2.3 and 179.2.4 (embezzlement committed by a person using his official position with the infliction of significant damage) of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is underway.

Employees of the 7th department of the Binagadi district police department detained S. Narimanov, suspected of embezzling $4,000 belonging to a resident of the capital through fraud.

In turn, employees of the 26th police station of the Yasamal district police department detained M. Gasimov also on suspicion of fraudulent misappropriation of funds from a resident of Baku in the amount of 2,000 manats and 5,000 dollars.

Two of these facts are under investigation.

Thus, during the activities carried out on the basis of the received operational information, Jeyhun Mammadov was detained as a suspect. During an inspection of the area near his house, 93 hemp bushes grown by him with a total weight of more than 30 kg were discovered.

In addition, during the next operation, previously convicted Ruslan Mammadov and his relative Khalid Abdullayev, who were involved in drug trafficking, were detained. About 16 kg of heroin and marijuana were found in their possession. They stated that they were involved in drug trafficking by Iranian citizens.

Based on these facts, criminal cases have been initiated, and operational search activities are ongoing.

A sentence was handed down to Sadig Hajiyev, the former head of the financial service of the Military Police Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, who also worked as the head of the financial services of several military units and was accused of embezzling 1.9 million manats, Report informs. According to the court decision, Sadig Hajiyev was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Sadig Hajiyev, who was the head of the financial service of the military police department, as well as several military units of the Ministry of Defense, was accused under Article 179.4 of the Criminal Code (Theft on an especially large scale) of theft of 1 million 900 thousand manats.

The trial of the former director of the Lankaran Regional Forestry Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Amil Abdullayev, who was accused of taking a bribe, has ended, oxu.az reports. According to the information, he was sentenced to nine years in prison. Fadail Babayev, who worked as a forester and was also involved in this case, was found guilty of complicity in the crime. F. Babayev was sentenced to eight years in prison, but his sentence was considered suspended with a probationary period.

It is noted that A. Abdullayev was detained during an operation carried out by the Main Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General. During the investigation, reasonable suspicions were established that A. Abdullayev had received a bribe in the amount of 14,900 manats in exchange for the provision of a land plot on the balance sheet of the Lankaran Regional Forestry Center for use for various purposes. During a search conducted in the official’s office, a number of evidence in this case were discovered and seized.
