Over the past 25 days, the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan has seized 165 kg of narcotic drugs from circulation, the cost of which on the “black market” is 3 million manats, Report informs citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Thus, during the operations, marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine, opium, as well as 9,900 tablets of methadone, tramadol and Lyrica were seized.

During May, 24 operations against drug trafficking were carried out in the capital and regions, 26 people and 2 members of an organized group were detained. 9 of them were persons involved in the supply of drugs into the country.

Criminal cases were initiated based on the facts, and a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against the detained persons by a court decision.

As a result of activities carried out by employees of the police department of the village of Kur, Shamkir district police department, Aydin Azimov, suspected of illegal drug cultivation, was detained, oxu.az reports with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

According to the data, during an inspection of the suspect’s house in the village of Garajamirli, hemp bushes were discovered, grown with special agrotechnical care.

An investigation into this fact is ongoing.
