A new type of fraud has recently spread in Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports. Thus, after posting an advertisement for the sale of goods on websites, fake links from “buyers” are sent to the citizen’s mobile number. In particular, through these links, created on behalf of the country’s only national operator, Azerpost LLC, bank details are requested and personal information of users is stolen.

Fraudsters posing as buyers report that they will pay the required amount for the goods through “Azerpost” and send a link to receive the money. When clicking on this link, the number and PIN code of the bank card are requested. Then, on behalf of “Azerpost”, a fake message is sent stating that the goods have arrived at the warehouse, but there are difficulties with delivery due to an incorrectly specified address. To create a new address, another link is sent, and when the citizen clicks on it, the fraudsters achieve their goal.
