MIA about trafficking in human beings

Baku hosted an event on Azerbaijan’s fulfillment of CoE Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings

 The Council of Europe (CoE) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan have jointly organized an event on Azerbaijan’s fulfillment of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, haqqin.az reports.  

Some 36 representatives from 21 state agencies to combat human trafficking and 4 from civil societies attended the event.

Addressing the event, Sharif Asadullayev, the head of the Department on combating human trafficking at the Interior Ministry, said that Azerbaijan is persistent in a high level organization of fight against human trafficking.

“Azerbaijan that has chosen the path of democratic, legal state building and declared ensuring human and civil rights and freedoms as a priority of the state policy, has been carrying out comprehensive measures to combat human trafficking for more than 10 years,” he said.

Head of the delegation of the Council of Europe’s Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings Ita Mirianashvili said that this event is aimed at expressing CoE’s support to the Azerbaijani government.
