In a joint operation on Saturday, police and the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations detained 23 people—among them Kazakh citizen Tarana Shabanova and Georgian citizen Aghasi Suleymanov—for gathering at a house in Aliabad village of Azerbaijan’s Zagatala district to preach a banned religious sect.

The detainees were release after the interrogation.

Sixteen books seized from them were sent to the State Committee to be reviewed.
