Former head of state service Z. Sultanov sentenced to 11 years in prison

The trial on the criminal case of the former head of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, Zakir Sultanov, has completed, news Internet portal day.az reports.

At the court session chaired by Judge Zeynal Agayev in the Baku Court for Grave Crimes , the lawyers of the accused spoke.

Lawyer Javanshir Suleymanov asked the court to consider the petition of Zakir Sultanov in connection with the payment of damages to the budget, to appoint to Z. Sultanov a conditional sentence. At the trial, a letter sent to the court by the Ministry of Culture was read out.

The letter says that the damages in the criminal case have been compensated, and they have no additional claims. In his last speech, Zakir Sultanov asked the judges to pass a humane judgement. The judgement was read at the trial.

According to the judgement, Z. Sultanov was sentenced to 11 years in prison to be served in a strict regime correctional facility, 600 thousand euros on his account in Yapikredit Bank, as well as the arrested ingots and other valuables should be confiscated in favor of the state.
