Judgement to accused in fraud

The Baku Court for Grave Crimes has completed a judicial investigation into the criminal case of Parviz Babirov, who has accused of fraud under the guise of a law enforcement officer, oxu.az reports.

At the court session chaired by Judge Akhmed Guliyev, the defendant was read the verdict, according to which he was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

According to the indictment, the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General conducted an investigation into the facts of illegal actions of a resident of the city of Shirvan P. Babirov, and a criminal case was initiated.

During the investigation, it was established that the attacker, using the form of a law enforcement officer and forged official IDs and convincing citizens of connections with high-ranking officials in state bodies, under various pretexts (assistance in obtaining an extract for a land plot and reinstatement) appropriated 71,500 manats .

P. Babirov was charged under Articles 310 (assignment of powers of an official) and 178.3.2 (large-scale fraud) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
