Arrested former head of Executive Power did not plead guilty

On January 31, 2022, a hearing was held in the administrative building of the Sabunchi District Court on the criminal case of the former head of the Executive Power of the Bilasuvar region, Mahir Guliyev, report.az informs.

At the trial, chaired by the judge of the Lankaran Court for Grave Crimes Mushfig Mammadov, the state prosecutor read out the indictment. At the trial, Mahir Guliyev pleaded not guilty. During the trial, 22 witnesses in the criminal case were questioned.

The next hearing is scheduled for February 7th, 2022.

The former head of the Bilasuvar region executive power, Mahir Guliyev, was detained by employees of the State Security Service on April 29, 2020, and, by a court decision, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen against him.

M. Guliyev was charged under Articles 179 (misappropriation and embezzlement), 308.1 (abuse of power), 311.3.2 (repeated bribery) and 313 (official fraud) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On April 30, 2020, he was dismissed from the post of head of the Executive Power of the Bilasuvar region.
