Criminal cases initiated against officials

Criminal cases have been initiated against persons involved in the illegal extraction of sand and gravel, haqqin.az reports with reference to the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan.

The Office for non-Criminal Prosecution and regional prosecutors, together with employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, verified information on mining in violation of the rules for the protection and use of subsoil in sand and gravel deposits that located in the Balakan and Gabala regions.

It was established that on the territory of the Balakan region, officials of Balakan Brick Production LLC and Redstone LLC carried out illegal extraction of sand and gravel in the amount of 1 million 137 thousand manats, an individual Asker Askerov, engaged in entrepreneurial activities without forming a legal entity – in the amount of 774 thousand manats, and in the territory of the Gabala region by an individual Nizami Abdullayev, engaged in entrepreneurial activities without forming a legal entity – in the amount of 71 thousand manats.

On the facts, three criminal cases were initiated and sent to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office for investigation under Articles 188.1 (violation of land ownership), 255.1 (violation of the rules for the protection and use of subsoil) and 308.1 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
