Accused of killing mother and sister extradited to Azerbaijan

An Azerbaijani citizen put on the international wanted list has been extradited from Russia to his homeland, oxu.az reports.

“Based on the petition of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the relevant department of the Russian Federation decided to extradite Azerbaijani citizen Murad Niftizadeh in accordance with the convention “On legal assistance and legal relations in civil, family and criminal cases” dated January 22, 1993.

During the investigation of the criminal case in the prosecutor’s office of the Sabunchi district of Baku, reasonable suspicions arose that on December 13, 2019, in the village of Bakikhanov, M. Niftizadeh deliberately killed his mother Fatma Gamzayeva and sister Elgun Niftizadeh.

The suspect fled, he was charged in absentia under article 120.2.7 (premeditated murder of two or more persons) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he was put on the international wanted list.

M. Niftizadeh was detained on the territory of the Russian Federation on October 17, 2021 and delivered to Azerbaijan on March 10,” the press service of the Azerbaijan Supervisory Authority said in a statement.
