Retired police colonel charged under more serious article

Retired police colonel Rza Hajiyev, who opened fire on a car in Baku, has been charged under a more serious article, oxu.az reports, citing the head of the Department for Control over the Implementation of Laws in the Investigative and Operational-Search Activities of the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan Natig Abdullayev.

N. Abdullayev noted that the accusation brought against him under the article of the Criminal Code on hooliganism was reclassified to article 29, 120.1 (attempted murder). The case is currently being investigated by the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

On the evening of December 16 last year, the 15th police station received information that in the territory of the Baku village of Pirshagi, a local resident Rza Hajiyev opened fire on a car driven by his neighbor Shirzad Guliyev on the basis of the conflict, after which he left the scene.

As a result of operational-search activities carried out by police officers, R. Hajiyev was detained. Kalashnikov assault rifle (AKMS), one magazine and two cartridges were seized from him.
