State Security Service operation: arrested a suspect who collaborated with the special services of Armenia

The State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan has carried out comprehensive counterintelligence measures to identify and prevent intelligence and subversive activities of foreign special services and threats against the interests of the country’s national security, oxu.az reports, citing the public relations department of the SSS.

In the course of the investigations, reasonable suspicions arose that the citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emil Mammadov (born 1981) was involved in secret cooperation with the enemy to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity, state security and defense capability of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He met with employees of the Armenian special services in the territory of a third country and for money, as well as in compliance with all the rules of secrecy, carried out their instructions to collect information that could be used to the detriment of the state security of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A criminal case was initiated against E. Mammadov under article 274 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He was arrested by a court decision.

Investigations are currently ongoing.
