Smuggling of a large batch of medicines to Azerbaijan prevented

Employyes of the State Customs Committee has prevented the smuggling of a large batch of medicines from Georgia to Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the State Customs Committee.

So, as a result of operational measures, it was established that contraband goods are transported in the luggage compartment of a Mercedes Benz Actros car. The vehicle was taken under control.

At the entrance to the “Red Bridge” customs post, the driver, an Azerbaijani citizen, was interviewed. He stated that there were no hidden or undeclared items in the car.

However, a check with a stationary X-ray machine revealed suspicious objects in the trunk. As a result, 120 boxes of Marlboro Touch cigarettes and drugs were found.

In total, 2,400 cigarettes and a large number of medicines of seven names were found.

The matter is under investigation.
