“Of course, hosting these Games in Turkey creates additional opportunities for us. Naturally, we are very pleased that these Games are being held in fraternal Turkey. I am sure that these Games will be remembered as a sports holiday and as a holiday of Islamic solidarity. At the Islamic Solidarity Games, which were held in Baku five years ago, our team showed an excellent result, became the first in the team standings. At the same time, the Games in Baku became an impetus for strengthening Islamic solidarity. Because the athletes of Muslim countries for some time closely communicated with each other. I am sure that here you will find new friends. Because these Games are a sports competition, and at the same time a factor strengthening unity, solidarity, friendship between Muslim countries,” President Ilham Aliyev said.
