Suspect in extortion detained

Employees of the Kurdamir District Police Department detained a resident of the village of Khirdapay Aydin Mammadov, suspected of fraud and extortion, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country.

The investigation established that during April-May of this year, A. Mammadov, taking advantage of the trust of four residents of the district and giving them false promises to help restore suspended pensions, embezzled funds belonging to citizens in the amount of 10,800 manats.

In addition, during the investigation, other criminal acts of his were revealed. Thus, A. Mammadov, who is an active user of social networks, blackmailing two citizens with the dissemination of discrediting information, took from them a total of 1,200 manats.

During interrogation, the man confessed to the crime. According to these facts, a criminal case has been initiated in the district police department, and an investigation is underway. By a court decision, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against the detainee.

Law enforcers do not rule out the involvement of A. Mammadov in other similar crimes. Citizens who suffered from his illegal actions are asked to report this to the service 102 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as to the Kurdamir district police department.
