Persons who caused damage in the amount of AZN 1 million through advertisements for the sale of cryptocurrencies were detained

People were detained who, by placing advertisements on the sale and purchase of cryptocurrencies on social networks, deceived citizens and caused them damage in the amount of about 1 million manat, APA reports citing the country’s Interior Ministry.

Thus, the Ministry of Internal Affairs received a large number of applications that unknown persons posted ads on the social network “instagram” and various news portals and deceived citizens under the guise that if they invested money, they would earn large sums of money by trading on international financial exchanges and buying and selling cryptocurrencies.

As a result of operational and technical measures carried out by employees of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry, Rashid Bayramov and his acquaintance Vugar Aliyev were detained, who deceived citizens in the above way. It was found that R. Bayramov and V. Aliyev took possession of the money of more than 100 people, while they did not carry out any operations on international exchanges and for the purchase and sale of cryptocurrency. It turned out that R. Bayramov and V. Aliyev caused damage to citizens in the amount of about 1 million manats.

In fact, a criminal case was initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code. R. Bayramov and V. Aliyev were brought to justice as defendants, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest against them.
