The activities of scammers who deceive citizens on WhatsApp have been prevented

In recent months, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has received numerous complaints that online lotteries are being organized on the WhatsApp platform with promises to receive 5 times more invested funds, the report.az Internet news portal reports, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

So, in the course of the investigation, fraudsters were identified, and the circle of citizens deceived by them was determined. As a result of operational and technical measures, Aida Aliyeva and her friend Gennady Pavlov, accused of organizing an online lottery, were detained. It is established that they created two groups in Whatsapp, in which they organized separate lotteries for male and female users. The men’s group was led by Gennady Pavlov, and the women’s group by Aida Aliyeva.

Both groups together had over 1,000 members. The detainees stated that daily payments were allegedly made in groups to different people, and fake payment receipts were prepared for this. Aida Aliyeva promised the group members that the money paid to them would be returned fivefold.

By a court decision, a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen as the defendants against Aida Aliyeva and Gennady Pavlov.

The Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime asks citizens affected by the illegal actions of these persons to contact the Directorate.
