Persons who damaged a historical monument in Baku were brought to legal responsibility

The State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan has taken control of the issue in connection with the damage to the facade of a historical monument of the 19th century located on Gogol Street in Baku, oxu.az reports citing Fariz Huseynov, a spokesman for the structure.

The representative of the civil service noted that the projects of any restoration and conservation work must be coordinated with the civil service. The repair of this historical monument was carried out without such approval. He further pointed out that monuments of history and architecture can be used as public catering facilities without prejudice to their architectural style and artistic and aesthetic appearance. However, it is necessary to ensure their protection and integrity. Changes to the facade and windows of said monument are against the law. Therefore, civil servants investigated this fact, drew up an act and determined the amount of the fine. Necessary measures will be taken to protect the monument.

So, yesterday, the architect Elchin Aliyev published a post on his Facebook account about changing the appearance of the historical building.
