A criminal case was initiated against the chairman of the municipality

In Azerbaijan, a criminal case has been initiated against the chairman of the municipality, oxu.az reports.

The chairman of the municipality of the village of Geyshaban, Lankaran region, Abdulla Fetdayev, is accused of abuse of office. He was charged under Article 309.1 (commitment by an official of actions that clearly go beyond his powers, if this caused significant harm to the rights and legitimate interests of individuals or legal entities or the legally protected interests of society or the state) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The case will be considered in the Lankaran District Court.

This article provides for punishment in the form of a fine in the amount of 2,000 – 4,000 manats or correctional labor for up to two years, or imprisonment for up to three years with restriction of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities.
