A criminal case was initiated on the discovery of a mass grave in the village of Edilli, Khojavend region

On the fact of the discovery of a mass grave of persons allegedly being servicemen of the Azerbaijani army in the village of Edilli, Khojavend region, a criminal case was initiated in the Military Prosecutor’s Office under articles 115.4, 120.2. 1, 120.2.7 and 120.2.12 of the Criminal Code and an investigation is underway, AZERTAC reports with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The investigation established that during the First Karabakh War, the armed formations of the illegal Armenian separatist regime and the armed forces of Armenia, carrying out illegal activities on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, grossly violated the norms and principles of international humanitarian law, including the requirements of Article 17 of the Geneva Convention of August 12, 1949 of the year “On improving the situation of the wounded and sick in the military armies”, and in 1993, 25 prisoners, presumably servicemen of the Azerbaijani army, were killed on ethnic grounds and massively buried in the village of Edilli in the Khojavend region.
Investigative activities in the criminal case are ongoing.
