Former official arrested in courtroom

The Sumgayit Grave Crimes Court has completed the investigation of the criminal case of Ramil Aliyev, former deputy chief for technology of the Guba district fire department of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, reports oxu.az. The verdict was read out to the accused at the trial presided over by Judge Hafiz Aliyev.

R. Aliyev was sentenced to seven years in prison. The preventive measure chosen for the accused in the form of placing him under police supervision was replaced by arrest, and Ramil Aliyev was immediately taken into custody in the courtroom.

According to official information, during his time in office, the former deputy chief took money from individuals under the pretext of employment.

In the course of the investigation, reasonable suspicions arose that R. Aliyev, having abused the trust of several citizens, giving them false promises to hire firefighters in the Guba district fire department, committed fraud, embezzling them 21,500 manats.
