Woman detained for blackmailing taxi driver

In Baku, a woman blackmailed a taxi driver, threatening to inflict bodily harm on herself, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry.

Thus, an appeal was sent to the 17th station of the Narimanov District Police Department about extortion of 1,450 manats.

KIA driver E. Jafarzade said that the passenger said that her child was sick and needed money for treatment. According to the man, after that the woman began to threaten that she would inflict bodily harm on herself, and blame him for it.

As a result of operational-search activities carried out by police officers, a native of the Sharur district, Tunzala Shafiyeva, previously convicted of hooliganism, was detained, suspected of extorting money through threats.

The matter is under investigation.
