Suspect arrested in robbery of 25 payment terminals

A person who suspect in a series of thefts in the territory of Baku and the regions has been detained, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. All crimes were recorded by CCTV cameras.

Police officers detained previously convicted Gazanfar Babayev, who is suspected of embezzling funds over the past few months from payment terminals installed in 25 stores by hacking them.

These retail facilities are located in Binagadi, Pirallahi districts of the capital, Absheron district, Sumgayit, as well as Tovuz and Ismayilli districts. It turned out that G. Babayev, in particular, stole money from the terminals installed in 12 stores in the villages of Saray, Masazir, Gobu, Digah and Mehdiabad of the Absheron region.

The court chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest against G. Babayev. The investigation is ongoing.
