Ex-son-in-law detained on suspicion of brutal murder of three family members

As a result of investigative and operational-search activities carried out by the police and prosecutors, a particularly serious crime committed in the territory of the Khazar district of Baku was revealed, oxu.az reports citing a joint report by the press services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On November 29, 2022, at about 20:00 in the village of Buzovna, an unknown person killed Elbrus Muradov (born 1939), his wife Shahira (born 1945) and son Rahil (born 1971), injuring them with a cutting tool , and grandson Elbrus Agalarov (born 1997) was injured.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated in the district prosecutor’s office under article 120.1 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In the course of the investigation, reasonable suspicions arose that the former son-in-law of the family, Nofel Safarov (born 1976), committed the murder on the basis of a personal conflict that arose between them. He was detained as a suspect and handed over to the investigation.

Currently, the necessary investigative and operational measures are being carried out on the case.
